We have a few traditions we like, and started a few new ones this year. Above is a seasonal German Pancake, a la my natal family. Below you can see the kids ready for bed doing our nightly December advent calendar ritual. They still sometimes ask if we can do the advent calender tonight and I have to explain that the elves have taken it away until next Christmas. Farther down you can see the kids putting lights on the tree. We have a kind of half tradition that we put the lights on the tree the night we get it, and the ornaments another night. This year we had a really fun Christmas party with the kids the night we did the ornaments. Probably one of the best nights of the year. We did ornaments, then a craft, and then hot chocolate and advent calendar. Blasting Christmas music all the while. That was a really special night. I love the last pic where CC puts the star on the tree. She was terrified of the height, and there were several false starts before she summoned the courage to go the entire distance and get the star to the top. It was so fun to watch J hoist her up.
