Happy Belated Halloween

Happy Halloween everyone! We hope you had a great night of fun and sugar! This year the J Pod had Soccer Player, Pinkalicious, a strawberry and a ladybug. They were pretty darn cute! We did lots of trick or treating as a family and then after a while SA and babies peeled off for home with Daddy. SA loves handing out candy through the mouth of the plastic moster we had painted on black plastic in our door way. (It's his favortie thing to hear the reactions of kids and parents to it through the thin plastic barrier as he waits to hear the magic words. This year he can't stop saying that a few boys came running up to the door saying our monster was super cool). But even after those four had headed for home, little Pinkalicous had lots of energy left. We trick or treated until her Hello Kitty sack was totally full to the brim and overflowing. Literally. I was amazed to see her stamina!

Two things set this year apart. One was that on Halloween day, we did a little more front yard decorating than usual. We normally make a long line of pumpkins out on the border of our lawn and the driveway, trying to make it stretch to the street. But this year we had lots of spiderweb all over the place, and a few hanging ghoul/skeletons as well. Doinng that was VERY fun for the kids. Especially SA.

The second thing that made this year wonderful was that we went trick or treating with two families of neighbors from the court, both of whom we really love. It was so fun to see my friend take her infant daughter and one year old son out to enjoy the festivities. It was also great to have the two older kids of our other friend along to keep things exciting and moving along. Jed pushed the babies in the kinderwagon and I held hands with the big kids.

It was a pretty fantastic night. And quite honestly, it surprised me, since we were coming off of the busiest weekend ever. On Saturday we had Cupcake's birthday party, followed by a soccer game, followed by SA's friend's pumpkin carving party, followed by church party with trunk or treating. All of this, of course, would have been enough to kill me without the nececities preceeding the entire chain, which were the chores and cleaning and prep normally done before a kids friends birthday party.

And then on Sunday, just to revel in the business of it all, we had the Jennys with their four gorgeous boys over, which was the cherry on top of our weekend sundae.

That was the weekend. I can say  that we lived through it, many of us with smiles. Looking at these pictures, I realize that it was a holiday not to be forgotten. Even if the weekend did hit like a tsunami!
